  1. A motorgaleas. Before the bridges were built, linking Jutland to Fynen and Zealand, then to Sweden, Denmark’s trade was by water and there were hundreds of these vessels around the Danish and Swedish coasts. These vessels were built in local yards and there are still many yards repairing and restoring ketches and schooners. There is the Viking Ship museum at Roskilde, where much research and reconstruction takes place. There’s also a magnificent cathedral!
