Armed Yacht ‘Peggy’
This is the armed yacht ‘Peggy’. She was built in 1789 for Mr. George Quayle, prominent banker and politician in the Isle of Man. She is the oldest surviving Manx craft and one of the few surviving vessels built in the 18th. century. She is seen here in store, with her original spars on the right, in Douglas. ‘Peggy’ is 26 feet 6 inches long, with a beam of 7 feet 8 inches and depth of 4 feet.
